On Monday we went to Orchard Road and took the bus & train on the trip into the downtown area of Singapore. Orchard Road is like a Michigan Ave surrounded by upscale shops, restaurants and really a tourist attraction.

Amy & Dinesh have been playing it safe with authentic foods and we've had chicken wings and pizza for dinner the last 2 nights. So Monday night we had an authentic meal with Dinesh's family. They were so hospitable and we ate fish curry, noodles with egg and shrimp, spicy lamb, spring rolls and something that is like a tortilla pancake (I forget the real names of them). I actually liked the meal and that's saying a lot for a picky eater like me. Andrew tried a couple of things and wasn't as daring... The kids ate the pancake thing with sugar and they had chocolate ice cream for them too (can't go wrong with ice cream right?)

Sunday

On Sunday we went to the meeting with Amy & Dinesh and there were 50+ people there. Everyone was so taken with Reese because of her light skin, hair and eyes. She was getting attention and then she went into a blank stare and the otherwise outgoing little girl clammed up. Amy said she thought it was culture shock, after about 5 minutes she was fine. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming to us Americans.

Then we went swimming and the kids had a blast. The kids wanted to go to bed at 6pm that night.

It's Saturday morning and our first morning in Singapore and we walked across the street for breakfast. McDonald's in Singapore is pretty much the same but some strange variations like chicken sausage and you can get a fish breakfast sandwich. Interesting. I also took a couple pictures of the city scape here in Bukit Panjang. Buses, cars and trains all around and tons of people out walking to shops, restaurants & things. Very humid here but in the shade the breeze is wonderful.

At the Atlanta airport with one of the new Infor ads. We saw one at O'Hare in Chicago too but we didn't have time to stop and take a picture so maybe on the way home...

We've arrived!

Our trip to Singapore. Well, 27 hours and a quick visit with family in Chicago we've arrived! We had a 3 hour layover in Chicago so Kim's sister and brother in law and their 2 kids and Kim's parents visited us and brought Dunkin Donuts. What wonderful grandparents, the kids ate a bunch of donut holes and were all sugared up for the trip. Just what grandparents do, spoil the kids and sugar them up and send them home...

Getting ready for our trip

We are so excited to be going to Singapore (well everything but the whole day of flying with 2 small kids).
